Keys in hand — now the real setup starts. Utilities, internet, Wi-Fi, security, and first bills. Most Realtors stop at escrow. This list (and optional help) covers the first 30 days.
Week 0 · Before / day of keys
- Confirm utility start datesElectric, gas, water, trash — match key release so you are not dark on move-in night.
- Schedule internet installCompare fiber vs cable for your address. Prefer owning the modem/router to avoid rental fees.
- Collect all seller remotes & codesGarage, gates, locks, alarm — plan to change them day one.
- Photo the electrical panel & shutoffsKnow water main, gas, and breakers before you need them at 11pm.
Days 1–3 · Move-in tech
